Lovely lilacs grow upon the shore of a creek
that slithers through my backyard.
Flowers hug the water in
neat little rows like Roman
legions marching to Gaul.
Butterflies are content to
rest on this spot under the
shade of an oak tree.
I'm also content to wilt
in my tiny little corner of the
world watching time go by.
